Lewiston Circle of Honor Veterans Memorial

The Lewiston, New York Veterans of Foreign Wars Downriver Post 7487 has announced a major redesign project that will transform the current Lewiston Veterans Memorial at Academy Park into one of the region’s most renowned sites that pay tribute to those who have served our country. It will be called the “Circle of Honor” and will feature a large granite platform with the eagle defense symbol.

About the Memorial

A new 23 foot diameter granite platform will feature a large engraved image of the U.S. defense symbol — a unique and spectacular Circle of Honor that will heighten awareness and reinforce the respect due our military veterans.

The eternal flame will be repositioned within the granite centerpiece in a more prominent location. It will also be protected from the elements and kept safely out reach of visitors. Engraved on the top of the centerpiece will be:

“America’s Flame Burns Brightly, Fueled by the Courage
and Sacrifice of Those Who Have Defended Our Freedoms.”

The new Memorial will be brought to one level, rather than the today’s step down. More visitor friendly and much easier to see and read the inscribed names of those we honor.

The new flagpoles will be proportional and height appropriate and will be illuminated with LED lights.
